Startups: Make Sure Your Website is Investor-Ready
Jul 27, 2025Most investors will check out your website before taking a meeting, or even before they accept your connection request on LinkedIn. It’s often their first impression of you, so you should make sure your website works for you and not against you.
3 things you should focus on:
1. Look professional: Even if your website is only a one-pager or a "coming soon", it should feel like someone’s in charge. Clean design, no broken links, no spelling mistakes, no outdated content or links, and definitely no unedited parts or "lorem ipsum". The site should show you’re taking this seriously. If English isn't your first language, don't let it show (there are tools that make that super easy nowadays).
2. Look like a business: Your website isn’t a pitch deck. Investors want to see that you are in business (or on your way to being). The website should be designed to attract your potential customers and convert them into sales.
3. Use your About page to say what matters to investors: Customers are interested in your solutions to their problem, and investors are interested in your company as a whole. But while your homepage and virtually all of your website should be made for customers, you still have the "about" section to tell your story as a company and signal your strengths to investors.
Use it to highlight the strength of your team, especially the founders. Include links to the founders' LinkedIn profiles. Talk about your mission (keep it brief and focused, no fluff). Mention notable investors or advisors you have.
In short, make your website add to your credibility in the eyes of potential investors.
